How it all started...
The Denton Project was authorized by Mt. Carmel SDA Church, Harrington, DE, in a business meeting, November 2011, chaired by the late Pastor Stephen A. Boyce, in his capacity as Bay Area Ministerium Leader for Allegheny East Conference. Then, Elder Terrence D. Nichols was voted to be the Lay Leader of the Denton Mission Project.
Through the providential guidance of the Holy Spirit working through Sister Kittina Coursey, Elder Nichols was guided to the Wesleyan Campground, Denton, MD, where he met Mr. Jim Johnson, director of the newly formed Denton Camp. Our first services were held on Saturday, November 17, 2012. The Spirit of our Lord developed a strong bond between Elder Nichols and Mr. Johnson that has resulted in the welcomed presence of the Denton Church of Free Seventh-day Adventist Congregation from the fall of 2012 to the present.

Expanding the vision...
God blessed us, the Denton Church, to move from the rental of the dormitory on the Denton Campground to the former Wesleyan School Property in August 2014. In August of 2022, the Denton Church purchased this school property; thus allowing us to further expand our ministry.
Where we are headed...
Today, our ministry is blossoming into various avenues that allows us to truly show the love of Christ to our community through true ministry as reflect in the New Testament by the examples of Jesus Christ. We are blessed to sponsor four orphans in Kenya, Africa; as well as, assist the Fiwagoh Mission Orphanage with their printing ministry. We have a food pantry which provides food to over 50 families weekly in our community. We have a clothing closet which enables us to provide clothes to those in need as well as assists in holiday gifts for families in need.
In 2022, we have developed an English as a second language course for those seeking to learn English. We have fitness classes weekly in our Denton Church Center.
We are excited to see what God is doing and we are not done; in fact, we have just begun!!
